Description
Chromogenic medium for the isolation and direct differentiation of S. aureus.
Staphylococci are widespread in nature, their major habitat being the skin and mucous membranes of mammals. S. aureus is one of the most prevalent organisms associated with foodborne illnesses worldwide. Its detection and enumeration help provide information about the potential health hazard of food and is also used as an indicator of poor hygiene and water quality.
Chromatic Staph aureus is a chromogenic medium used with supplements for the presumptive identification of Staphylococcus aureus from different types of samples.
Clinical specimens such swabs from the nose, throat, wounds and other infected sites can be inoculated directly onto the agar plate.
