Description
Differential medium for detection of urinary pathogens.
CLED (Cysteine-, Lactose-, Electrolyte-Deficient) Agar is a medium for urine culture supporting the growth of urinary microorganisms and providing good colony differentiation while the swarming of Proteus is inhibited.
The medium was further modified by Bevis by incorporation of Andrade’s indicator, which along with bromothymol blue allow for the differentiation of lactose fermenters from non-fermenters. CLED Andrade Agar supports the growth of all potential urinary pathogens giving good colony differentiation.
