Alkaline Saline Peptone Water ISO (ASPW) is a liquid medium used for the selective enrichment of Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Vibrio cholerae and Vibrio vulnificus from food, animal feed and environmental samples.
This medium complies to ISO 21872-1.
METHOD PRINCIPLE
Peptone provide carbon, nitrogen and amino acids for bacterial growth. The high concentration of sodium chloride along with the alkaline pH provide a favourable environment for growth of Vibrio spp while inhibiting other organisms.
