Description
Chromogenic medium for the presumptive isolation and identification of Campylobacter spp.
Campylobacter is the most frequent cause of gastroenteritis in humans. C. jejuni, C. coli and C.lari are the species most commonly identified as causing human infection. The bacteria live in the intestinal tracts of animals and consequently food of animal origin can become contaminated. Its isolation and identification provide information about the potential health hazard of food.
Chromatic Campylobacter is a chromogenic medium used for the selective isolation and differentiation of Campylobacter species from different materials.
Clinical specimens such as stools and rectal swabs can be inoculated directly onto the agar plate.
This medium can also be used for detection of Campylobacter in food, animal feed and environmental samples in accordance with the ISO 10272-1.
