Liofilchem Cronobacter Selective Broth Culture Media 610389 is a Liofilchem microbiology product supplied by Kormay Biomedicals. Its practical role is cronobacter Selective Broth (CSB) is a liquid medium used with supplements for the selective enrichment of Cronobacter spp (formerly Enterobacter sakazakii) in food, animal feed end environmental samples. The complete CSB is formulated according to ISO 22964:2017 and is used in conjunction with ChromaticTM Cronobacter Isolation (CCI) Agar.
This product is relevant to selective chromogenic screening and presumptive differentiation. It is best positioned for clinical, food safety, infection-control, and industrial microbiology labs that need a controlled, documentable microbiology workflow rather than a generic consumable.

What to read after incubation
A yellow coloration in the CSB (sucrose-positive) indicates presumptive Cronobacter spp. If the medium remains purple, the sample is considered negative. Selective or enrichment logic
Enzymatic digest of animal tissues and meat extract provide amino acids, nitrogen, carbon, vitamins and minerals for organisms growth.Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic balance of the medium. Bromocresol purple is the pH indicator. Sucrose is the fermentable carbohydrate. Supplementation with Vancomycin (5mg) Supplement (ref. 81064), along with a high incubation temperature, inhibit most contaminant bacteria.
Sample handling workflow
- Preparation: Suspend 28.04 g of powder in 1 liter of deionized or distilled water. Bring to boil and shake until completely dissolved. Sterilize at 121°C for 15 minutes. Cool up to 45-50°C. Aseptically, add rehydrated content of 2 vials (10 ml) of Vancomycin (5mg) Supplement. Mix well and dispense into tubes.
- Procedure: 1.To prepare the initial suspension, add 10 g or 10 ml of the test sample to 90 ml of Buffered Peptone Water (ref. 414030). 2.Incubate the inoculated pre-enrichment medium at 36 ± 2°C for 18 ± 2 h. 3.Mix well and transfer 0.1 ml of the pre-enrichment culture to a tube of CSB. 4.Incubate the inoculated enrichment medium at 41.5°C for 24 ± 2 h.
