Description
Tryptic Soy Agar (TSA), also known as Casein Soya Bean Digest Agar, is a non selective isolation medium used for the enumeration of bacteria and fungi from different materials, for environmental and personnel hygiene monitoring and for the preparation of reference strains with the aim of growth promotion tests of culture media. This medium complies with the recommendations of the current United States (USP), European (EP) and Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP) for the microbiological examination of non sterile products. The medium is also available as triple-wrapped irradiated (9-20 kGy) plates, particularly suitable for use in restricted areas like isolators and clean rooms. Tryptic Soy Agar is also used as a reference medium when carrying out microbiological testing of food, animal feed and water. For such applications, Liofilchem offers products having the same composition as TSA used in the pharmaceutical industry, but which are specifically controlled according to requirements of EN ISO 11133.
