Buffer Solution pH 7 is used for dissolving, suspending and diluting test samples, including clinical specimens.. Principle. Peptone and sodium chloride maintains the viability of microorganisms. Polysorbate 80 (Tween® 80) is a surfactant which allows a better dispersion of the test sample. It may further act as neutralizing agent for disinfectants such as quaternary ammonium compounds, iodines and parabenes. NOTE Buffer Solution pH 7 is not a culture medium. The minimal nutrient content does not allow significant growth of microorganisms.
