Description
Chromatic CRE / Chromatic OXA-48 - For Microbiology Lab Testing Carbapenems are the last shelter from multi-resistant Gram-negative bacterial infections
Key Features
- These enzymes hydrolyse penicillins at a high level and carbapenems at a low level posses poor activity against broad-spectrum cephalosporins and are not susceptible to β-lactamase inhibitors
- Their frequent association with ESBL and permeability defects increase the level of resistance to carbapenems
- In addition the OXA-48-type producers with low MICs categorized as susceptible to carbapenems by the EUCAST and CLSI guidelines are very difficult to detect and may spread unnoticed evolving then to resistance phenotypes
Available Sizes / Formats
- 90 mm ready-to-use plates 20 plates
Applications
- Bi-plate for detection of resistance to carbapenems in Enterobacteriaceae including OXA-48 strains directly from clinical specimens
- ChromaticTM CRE / ChromaticTM OXA-48 is a ready-to-use plate containing two distinct selective and chromogenic media used for the isolation and identification of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae including the Carbapenem-hydrolysing oxacillinase-48
- Carbapenemase is an enzyme class which can be produced by Klebsiella pneumoniae and by other organisms including Serratia and Enterobacter spp as well as Escherichia coli and Citrobacter freundii
- Patients infected by carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae often received inadequate empirical therapy until the pathogens resistance is recognized
- Therefore selective isolation and sensitive detection of these pathogens are essential to limit their spread
Technical Information
- Method chromogenic detection
- Category Laboratory Chemicals
- Product type Microbiology
