ROGOSA AGAR is a selective medium for the isolation and the enumeration of lactobacilli from oral, vaginal and faecal samples.. Principle. Tryptone provides carbon and nitrogen. Yeast extract is a source of vitamins and amino acids. Glucose, arabinose and sucrose are a source of carbohydrates and so of carbon. Sodium acetate and ammonium citrate, as the acid pH, inhibit streptococci, moulds and other microorganisms which are present in the oral.
