Sabouraud CAF Agar (Irradiated) is a selective medium used for isolation and enumeration of fungi from sanitized surfaces as well as for monitoring fungal contamination by air sampling. This medium is based on Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) with the addition of Chloramphenicol to inhibit contaminating bacteria while permitting successful selective isolation of yeasts and moulds. SDA is formulated according to the requirements of the harmonized USP/EP/JP method for determination of total combined yeast/ mould count (TYMC) and detection of Candida spp in non-sterile.
