Saline Lactose Broth (SLB) is used for dissolving, suspending and diluting test samples as well as for detection of microorganisms by enrichment. As a limiting growth medium, it produces cultures containing bacteria of smaller and more uniform size than nutrient rich media, which makes SLB suitable for challenging filter membranes in sterility testing.
