Scedosporium Selective Agar is a culture medium used for the selective isolation of Scedosporium species and Lomentospora prolificans from clinical specimens. Scedosporium species and Lomentospora prolificans are the filamentous fungi isolated more frequently from the cystic fibrosis (CF) lower airways, after Aspergillus fumigatus. As A. fumigatus, Scedosporium/Lomentospora species contribute to the progression of pulmonary deterioration of CF patients and are responsible for opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients as well as in healthy subjects.
