TS612203. STREPTOCOCCUS BROTH . Description. STREPTOCOCCUS BROTH is a selective enrichment medium indicated for streptococci isolation from specimens containing a mixed flora.. Principle. Peptones, dextrose and salts contained in the formulation, support the growth of microrganisms. Sodium azide inhibits gram-negative rods, whereas crystal violet is incorporated primarily to inhibit staphylococci.. Preparation. Suspend 30.6 g in 1 litre of distilled water. Heat until completely dissolved. Autoclave at 118°C for 15 minutes. Dispense into sterile final containers.. Technique. Inoculate the sample directly in STREPTOCOCCUS BROTH tubes. Incubate.
