Liofilchem MICROBIAL CONTENT Test Agar Culture Media 610094 is a Liofilchem microbiology product supplied by Kormay Biomedicals. Its practical role is mICROBIAL CONTENT TEST AGAR BASE is a Standard Methods medium used for determining the efficiency of sanitization of containers, equipment, and environmental surfaces as well as for use in the microbial content test of water miscible cosmetic products. Lecithin and Tween 80 have the aim of inactivating surface disinfectants.
This product is relevant to water and beverage laboratories where filtration, enrichment, colony recovery, and indicator-organism interpretation are tied to release or investigation decisions.

Sample handling workflow
- Procedure: Inoculate the specimen onto the medium. Incubate at 36 ±1 °C for 40-48 hours.
Technical verification points
- Formula / composition: (g/l) Tryptone 15.0 Soytone 5.0 Sodium Chloride 5.0 Agar 15.0 Final pH = 7.3 ± 0.2 at 25 °C. DIRECTIONS Suspend 40.0 g of powder in 1 liter of distilled or deionized water. Heat to boil until completely dissolved. Add 5 g of Tween 80 supplement (code 80031) and 7 ml of Lecithin supplement (code 80007). Continue heating for 1-2 minutes with frequent gentle swirling of the medium until completely dissolved. Autoclave at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Cool at 45-50 °C and dispense into Petri dishes. If it used with contact plates pour 16.5 to 17.5 ml medium per plate.
Storage, hazards, and disposal
- Storage / shelf life: The powder is very hygroscopic: store the powder at 10-30 °C, in a dry environment, in its original container tightly closed and use it before the expiry date on the label or until signs of deterioration or contamination are evident. Store prepared plates at 2-8 °C.
